The Language Center is responsible for providing and implementing services in language learning, teaching, and development, and for offering comprehensive language programs to academic and professional communities.
Brief History
The Language Center of Syiah Kuala University (USK) was established in 1962, two years after the founding of Syiah Kuala University on September 2, 1961. Located in Banda Aceh, the Language Center serves as a language service center that supports the improvement of language skills, especially English, for the academic community and the general public. As stipulated in Syiah Kuala University Rector Regulation No. 5 of 2024, the Language Center is responsible for the technical implementation and provision of services in language learning, teaching, and development, as well as offering comprehensive language programs for the academic and professional communities.

To become an innovative, independent, and leading center for language competency development that supports the three pillars of higher education, and to foster an academic community devoted to God Almighty with a socio-technopreneurial mindset and global orientation.
Mission
- Providing high-quality, competency-based language education and training to develop graduates with strong religious values, independence, social and ethical awareness, noble character, critical and creative thinking, a spirit of cooperation, and global competitiveness.
- Conducting high-quality, excellent, innovative, and sustainable research and community service in the field of language to support regional, national, and global development.
- Strengthening and expanding collaborative networks with educational institutions, language organizations, and strategic partners at the national and global levels to develop and sustain knowledge and technology in the field of language.
- Implementing integrated quality management in language services based on the principles of transparency, participatory engagement, productivity, effectiveness, and efficiency, while promoting good and independent governance to enhance global competitiveness
